Tell us a bit about you:
After a successful 21-year career as a qualified hairdresser and salon owner, I transitioned into a new path due to a shoulder injury that prompted me to leave the hair and beauty industry. During my tenure, I not only managed my own salon and trained apprentices but also worked as a trainer at Bite on the Side for four years, utilising my Hair and Beauty Trainer certification. Alongside, I volunteered as an ambulance officer and earned a Certificate 2 in Medical Emergency Response.
Seeking to remain engaged with the community, I pursued a Certificate 3 in Disability and subsequently worked with Community Living Australia for four years. This shift in focus was driven by my desire to enhance care standards and support for individuals.
My academic journey includes a Certificate 3 in Disability Support, Certificate 4 in Beauty Therapy, Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment, an associate degree, and an Undergraduate Certificate in Community Support from the University of Tasmania.
In January 2022, I founded Coastal Community Support Services from my home office, relocating to our current location at McLaren Vale Shopping Centre in May 2023. This venture embodies my commitment to creating environments where individuals receive exceptional care and support.
I am also a mother to two daughters, aged 11 and 13, and a stepmother to a 10-year-old. Our household also includes two exchange students, my partner Andrew, and our beloved dog Diesel.
Tell us a bit about your business or organisation/role: Coastal Community Support Services (CCSS) is a community-based organisation that provides in-home support to families and individuals with disabilities or mental health needs. With over 10 years of experience, CCSS offers services such as house cleaning, respite/STA, group activities, personal care, coaching, and mentoring. Founded in January 2022, the organisation has grown from one support worker and three clients to serving over 100 clients and having over 40 employees. Founder and Managing Director, Zoe Jones started the business after noticing a lack of support services in her area, Moana on the Fleurieu Peninsula.
CCSS has established itself as an outstanding leader within the disability sector through its demonstrated use of resilience, determination, and courage to achieve positive results. We have bounced back from challenges and setbacks, such as minimal staff, increased client needs, staffing shortages, and economic crises. Our determination to improve outcomes for people with disabilities and make a significant difference in the local and wider community is evident in our dedication to partnerships, programs, and advocacy efforts.

Let’s get to know you a little more:
What has been a lesson you learnt in your career or business that has stayed with you?
One of the most profound lessons I’ve learned in my career is the importance of cultivating strong relationships and building trust. In any professional setting, whether it’s a business environment, a team project, or client relationships, trust forms the foundation for collaboration, effective communication, and long-term success.
Early in my career, I experienced instances where misunderstandings or lack of trust led to delays, miscommunication, or even project failures. These experiences taught me that investing time and effort in building trust upfront pays off significantly in the long run. When colleagues, clients, or partners trust each other, they are more likely to openly share ideas, work together through challenges, and support one another’s efforts.
Moreover, trust enhances credibility and reliability, which are crucial for maintaining professional relationships and fostering a positive reputation. It’s not just about being trustworthy yourself, but also about demonstrating trust in others and their abilities. This mindset creates a collaborative atmosphere where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute their best work.
In essence, the lesson of building trust has shaped my approach to teamwork, leadership, and client relations. It’s a continual reminder that success in any endeavor is often rooted in the strength of the relationships we nurture and the trust we build along the way.
What is your favourite place in South Australia to visit?
One of the best places to visit in South Australia for a peaceful getaway with your caravan is Clare Valley. Here, you can enjoy the tranquility of the countryside while parking your caravan conveniently. Indulge in a relaxing glass of wine or gin paired with cheese amidst scenic vineyards. Meanwhile, your kids can freely explore the area, ensuring a delightful experience for everyone.
Why is being part of SA Woman important to you?
Being part of SA Woman is important to me because it offers a supportive community dedicated to celebrating and empowering women in business. It provides invaluable networking opportunities, access to resources, and fosters a sense of belonging among like-minded individuals. This community not only encourages personal and professional growth but also promotes collaboration and inspiration among women, which is crucial for achieving success in today’s business world.
What is a quote or mantra you live by?
A quote that resonates deeply with me is “I am woman, hear me roar.” This powerful line from Helen Reddy’s song “I Am Woman” encapsulates the strength, resilience, and determination that women embody. It inspires me to embrace my own power, voice, and ability to overcome challenges. It serves as a reminder of the boundless potential within each of us and the courage to face adversity head-on.
